Notes from the Post-it Wall | Week of June 22, 2025

by David Himmel

• For the last few months, I’ve had this nagging dull muscle pain in my right arm. I talked to my primary care doc about it. He shrugged it off. “Stretch more? Take some ibuprofen?” Went to a chiropractor the other day. He adjusted me, which helped with mobility, but couldn’t give me a specific diagnosis or cause. Kurt Cobain was right… die young.

• I feel bad for the Clown Community. Talk about a marginalized group. When you do an emoji search for “funny,” the clown does not appear in the results.

• Life has its rhythms. Because the Universe provides, then it takes away. Then provides again, and takes away again. And so it goes, on and on. Sometimes, it seems to take almost everything away with no sign of giving back. Which is why it’s perfectly acceptable to take a respite. Go underground. Hide. Keep your head down, but your chin up. While the Universe can be a sonofabitch, it also demands balance. You’ll get through it. It’s the only option.

• Summertime is when we should be frolicking freely in minimum clothes, seeking and finding adventure with every flash of a lightning bugs ass. So, it’d be real nice if old people and the homeless stopped dying en masse when it gets real hot, bumming the rest of us out. See you on the water!

• The world has been watching Israel and Iran fight like parents going through an ugly divorce. And the U.S. is acting like Israel’s new lover who also doesn’t care about what this is doing to the kids—the rest of us.

• I pose a question to you, Dear Reader… What is more painful? Watching your friend’s improv troupe perform in the back of an empty bar, or watching a 7-year-old’s baseball game?
