Notes from the Post-it Wall | Week of July 20, 2025

by David Himmel

• What did bugs do for fun before the invention of the light bulb?

• It’s strange to think that for most of my youngest son’s life, his mother and I were breaking up. I am as disappointed in me and his mother that he won’t remember us all living together as I am relieved that having not known those days, he won’t miss them. Although, maybe he’ll long for the thing we couldn’t give him. And it’s our job to sell him on the next best thing: two happier, and, therefore, better parents. And at least one clean house to call home.

• Do people still go to strip clubs? Have I aged out of that life stage?

• Hulk Hogan was always a better face than a heel.

South Park remains the greatest satirical voice in all of American culture. Even Mark Twain can’t compete with the adamantium edge South Park uses to shred conventions and hilariously proclaim the emperor is naked. And that his wiener is much like a toddler’s.

• The only worse than driving* in Chicago traffic is hearing suburbanites complain about Chicago traffic.
*Driving in Chicago traffic is more accurately defined as sitting in your car with a growing urgency to pee.
