Notes from the Post-it Wall | Week of July 27, 2025
• Had a birthday party for my son last Sunday. I spent all day Monday and half of Tuesday recovering as if I’d spent the weekend on a vicious bender of tequila, Quaaludes, and cocaine. This is parenthood.
• Why would I want to archive a What’s App message? Who does this, and why?
• Sydney Sweeney does have great genes. So does Venus Williams and Salma Hayek and Beyoncé and Brad Pitt and Angela Basset and Jon Hamm and every member of En Vogue and Lucy Liu… The list goes on. Objectively hot people are just that—objectively hot. And hotness sells stuff. That’s the joke. Hot people look good in jeans because of the jeans and their genes. And we all want to be as hot as they are. Why? Because life would be better. And if buying the crap they sell helps us feel hotter, then great. It’s better that being an incel or an angry uggo.
• I’m calling dibs on this title for a novel or essay collection: “I don’t like you, you don’t like me”: A Marriage Story™
• When defaulting to victim status and celebrating your self-imposed victimhood falls out of fashion, there are going to be a lot of people wandering around without personalities.
• Task by task. Thought by thought. Day by day. Breath by breath. Easy does it. Life has its rhythms.
