• Got my Spotify 2025 Wrapped on December 3 and I can’t help think they jumped the gun. Oh, Spotify, you think you got me pegged? I got twenty-eight days left in the year to completely fuck your algorithm upside down and inside out. You think I can’t? You think you know my varied taste. Sit back, bitch. I’m gonna blow your mind. And your amended wrapped will be one giant question mark. And it’ll have nothing to do with the Mysterians. (If you get that joke, welcome to the Cool Kids Table.) Next year, I’m going to listen exclusively to my Spotify 2025 Wrapped playlist so that my 2026 report will say something like, “Wow, you’re really boring.” Ha! Take that, data scientists!
• Your life is not what you make it. It is what life lets you get away with.
• It’s easy to hate your own guts. Resilience is finding the way to be okay not hating your own guts.
• Be an effective piece of shit, not an affected one.
• Mistakes can only be useful if we own them and fall upon the sword with humility and grace.
• There are those who love the line from Jack Kerouac’s On the Road that reads, “[…] the only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue centerlight pop and everybody goes “Awww!” And yet, when you go mad, they scoff and send you packing. These people would be a better service to society if they lined bird cages.
